The updated Range Rover Sport will go on sale later this year, with a starting price of almost £60,000.
The off-roader features a UK-built Ingenium engine – the same 2.0 litre unit already available in Evoques and Discovery Sports. The new motor will enable the Range Rover Sport to reach 62mph in just eight seconds and should return 45.6mpg – at least on paper.
For those keen on a souped-up Sport, there is the 520bhp supercharged V8 model, able to reach 62mph from standstill in only five seconds. And if 520bhp isn’t enough, buyers can opt for the SVR version, which adds another 40bhp and reduces the 0-62mph figure by 0.5 seconds.
Fuel economy-conscious UK buyers may find the 340bhp 3.0-litre V6 version an attractive proposition.
But the infotainment system is arguably one of the most exciting additions to the new Sport.
Boasting a 10-inch touchscreen display, Range Rover says the 2017 Sport is “the most connected Range Rover Sport to date”. Alongside live news, weather and flight information, owners will be able to control certain aspects of the car remotely, using a special app.
The new infotainment system is easier and quicker to use, according to the manufacturer, while the new Commute Mode apparently learns your journey habits and can guess where you want to go – without you having to fiddle about with the satnav.
The body has been modestly revamped, but for those who really want to stand out, the SVO version comes with the option of 19 new “premium” colours.
