Mini has revealed images of a new ride sharing concept car, offering a glimpse into how the future of motoring may look.
The idea behind the transparent Mini is that people can rent it as and when needed, eliminating the need to own a car outright.
The Vision Next 100 concept can be called upon by a renter 24 hours a day, which then takes them to a destination of their choosing.
One of the reasons the current Mini range is so popular is the degree of customisation they offer. The Vision Next 100 continues this, allowing users to change the interior and exterior colours as desired.
Artificial intelligence will be at the heart of the new Mini – through a system Mini call 'Cooperizer'. This AI unit will build up a database of information on the user, journey by journey - and then give them the experience they prefer every time they get in a Vision Next.
For instance, if the user enjoys driving, control of the car will be handed over to them and a twisting, turning route will be suggested.
It’s clear Mini don’t want to take away the ability to drive from those who enjoy it. As such, this machine features a transparent front complete with augmented reality to assist them on the road.
The ambitious concept has been developed as part of centenary celebrations by BMW Group.
Among other personalisation features is the ability to display images of an artists the user is a fan of.
